Do I Have To?
May 01, 2006
Can you believe that I actually had to work today? My goodness. I began my morning working on a video for our small group leaders in the church. We video taped the last training session and I edited and burned the training session onto a DVD to give to the small group leaders who were no able to make it during the meeting. I worked all morning on that silly thing and then right after lunch I began to work on another project we have going on.
Today we installed an ethernet cable from the router to out to the auditorium. This was quite a mess since we had to run the wire over 100 ft from the office, downstairs into the kitchen, through a big wall and into the dungeon which runs under the auditorium and back to the soundboard and media area. In the middle of that whole project the local phone company showed up to fix a problem with the voicemail system, so I had to hunt down a monitor, keyboard, and mouse for him to use in order to get onto the voicemail computer and while he was here we had him put the ends on our ethernet cable. Now I am installing updates and extra software on our Mac in the auditorium.
We are going to begin recording the services on the computer and then editing them and downloading them onto the internet as a pod cast so that people who miss a Sunday can download the weekly message from the internet. Hopefully it will all come together before Sunday.
The day is over, its time to go home, and I have done no work for my youth ministry responsibilities. That is how it goes, I get so many fires started that my actual job gets put on the back burner. *sigh*

Great idea to podcast your weekly messages. My church has been doing this for a while now (and has archives of all of our messages online too), and it's remarkable to see the statistics on how many people download the messages. Yes, many people from the church go home and get a second "hearing" of the sermon ... but even more out-of-towners and relatives listen in weekly!
