Turkey Time

March 17, 2006

all comments will be posted upon Craig's return from Hawaii

It's getting to be that time of year again. Turkey time. A few mornings ago, my wife was leaving for work when she hollered for me to come outside. Just as I reached the door, I heared that sweet sound of spring. The gobble of the Eastern wild turkey. Unfortunatly for me, Missouri's turkey season doesn't start until April 24th. In the meantime, I will be heading to not one, not two, but three different states to turkey hunt until our season begins. In one week, myself and another member of Three Timbers Outdoors (our Christian hunting video production) will be on our way to Alabama/Mississippi to lay the royal smackdown on some southern longbeards. After that, my wife and I will be heading to Oklahoma with cameras and shotguns in hand to film a three day hunt with a few friends.

All of this traveling and hunting is being done in order to supply material for Three Timbers Outdoors. Three Timbers was started by Craig, Rick Thomas and myself with the purpose of giving glory to God through hunting and supplying Christian outdoorsmen with a tool that they can use to witness to their non-Christian friends. Although the experience of starting this ministry has been challenging and difficult, God has blessed us with some great people that are helping us and with some great hunts. In Alabama, we'll be hunting with Wayne Burns of Alabama Whitetail and Outdoors. During the first three days of the Missouri season, Craig, Rick and I will be filming a hunt that is to be featured on Adventure Bound Outdoors (formerly on The Outdoor Channel and soon to be on OLN). As if that isn't enough, we're also collaberating with Troy Ruiz of Primos for our project. All of this is very exciting to us and we're thankful for the opportunites that we've been blessed with.

Keep checking in with Three Timbers Outdoors as we bring regular updates on the progress of our turkey season. Also, be in prayer for us as we seek to bring the Word of God to outdoorsmen and women in need of a relationship with Jesus.
