Block 'Em All!!!

To quote a friend of mine, "There's a special place in hell for pedophiles and people who talk on cell phones during movies." Now, do I really believe that? Absolutely. I could be described as what some people might call a "movie freak." I love movies and the cinema. Passionate. My DVD collection, which includes everything from Casablanca to A Fistful of Dollars to The Sixth Sense, borders on the ridiculous. My wife says that I have a sickness. With this passion for movies, you can imagine how much I hate it when my cinematic experience is defiled by some moonbat that not only fails to turn off his/her cell phone during a movie, but proceeds to answer it and talk to the person on the other end. It is for this reason that I am 100% in support of National Association of Theatre Owners in their pursuit to jam cell phone receptions during movies.

Of course, this is being met with staunch resistance from people who feel that they must be available at every minute of every day. Folks, no one is that important. The cell phone craze isn't that old. What did people do before cell phones? I'll tell you. They lived. Even in an emergency situation, I can't tell you of one person who has died because they couldn't be reached while watching a movie.

What is the purpose of a movie anyway? It's a means of entertainment. Of escape. When you allow your cell phone to go off during a movie, you have committed a collosal act of selfishness by disrupting the cinematic experience of others. So, come on. You're not that important. Neither am I. Blocking the cell phones is a good thing.

I agree. Bring on the blocking. I hate it when someone answers their phone and proceeds to talk during a movie that I paid money to see. I have trouble understanding how people have no consern for anyone else around them. Selfish, self-centered, people who think they are all that and a bag of chips because they get a phone call during a movie and sit there and talk are close to the top of my most hated people on earth. I know, I shouldn't hate people, but COME ON! Turn your phone off and watch the movie or stay home!
