Did you know that getting your oil changed by someone else is a rip off if you know how to do it yourself? Common sense right? I used to always change my oil from the time I was sixteen until I bought a brand new car last year. I then took my car to Modern Garage in Sullivan to get my oil changed. They charged me $17 to change the oil in my car. Since it costs about $7 bucks to buy the materials they were charging about $10 extra. I paid that, mainly because it was easier. However, when I bought my truck I took it to the same place and when I got my bill it was $27. WHAT THE HECK! Same amount of oil, same kind, cheaper oil filter and they charged 10 bucks extra. What’s the deal yo?
I thought maybe it was because it was a truck and more difficult to do. Today I went to wal-mart, spent $7 for the materials and did it myself. My truck sets up so high I don’t have to use a jack, the oil filter is right in the front with it’s own marked door, and everything was so easy it took very little time. After seeing how quick and easy it was I am hacked at Modern. What a rip off! I take 15 minutes out of my day to save $20 every three thousand miles. That is $660 I save by the time I get to 100,000 miles. RIP OFF!
Needless to say I will be changing my own oil from now on, and suggesting to everyone that if you want your oil changed do not go to Modern Garage. It is a rip off!

What do you do with the old oil? Is that included in the materials cost?
This is one reason that I have someone change my oil. I have no way to get rid of it.
There are places in town that take the oil and recycle it, some for a small fee.
