Avoiding Evil

“Examine everything carefully…abstain from every form of evil.”

Today has been one messed up day which was all started by the little theif that stole my car. I was planning on working on youth stuff and preparing for the mission trip that we are leaving on this Friday but instead I spent the entire day on the phone with the insurance agent, the insurance adjuster, the car dealership, the police, the G.A.P. insurance office and Casey who was constantly updating me on what she was doing. I also got a couple calls from Michael who was conserned and worried about the whole ordeal. It think he was more shook up about it than I was.

Anyway after giving up on them ever finding my car again I remained on the phone with all of these people trying to figure out what my next step is going to be and then at about 1:00 this afternoon I get a call from the police department that they found my car. Apparently the kid who stole it had an accident and smashed the front end of the vehicle up. It wasn’t in driving condition so it had to be towed and he gave me one hour to get someone to tow it before they called the city to impound the car. I then had to call my insurance agent, who had to call the main office, who had to call a manager to get a tow truck and tow it to one of their body shops that they use to repair vehicles before the city came and grabbed it. So the bad news is that the front end is smashed, there are several dents, and the trunk lock is busted out. The good news is my Harry Potter book, my Palm Tungstun, and Casey’s purse and belongings are all still in the car…along with a few new items that aren not mine such as a power drill and a couple debit cards that don’t belong to me. I am driving down tomorrow morning to get my personal items and to take a look at the damage myself.

Now I have to deal with the insurance adjustors who are going to be calling me, recording me, asking me questions and trying to do what is cheap for them and I am supposed to fill out paper work that they are mailing to me that I won’t even get to until I get back from the Mission Trip. That unfortunatly means that my car will sit un-touched until I get back. *sigh* The other bad thing about it all is that I have to pay a $500 deductable. Wow, a wasted 500 bucks just so some kid can go joy riding in my car. WELL WOO HOO!

But hey, what can I do about it? Not a thing. It’s just a car, ain’t nothin’ but a thang.

  1. Beth Sargent Said,

Josh and I had a 1,000 deductible, and recently had it changed it wasn’t much more at all for a 250 deductible, you may want to check into that. I am so glad they found your car. Even though you still had a pretty lousy day, you are blessed. I pray you have a blessed day

  2. Christy Said,

Craig - I’m sorry man! Yesterday was a day for theives! A lady from my cell group had her car taken from her at gunpoint yesterday. She is fine and uninjured, but man - how frustrating!!!!! I sure hope everthing works out for you. I’m glad you weren’t injured or hurt!
